Bobu (Across Rainbows C.I.C.)

Across Rainbows C.I.C., operating as bobu, offers an LGBTQ+ Safety Toolkit and workshops, providing practical skills to navigate hostile environments, discrimination, and microaggressions. Its ‘bobuSHIFT’ tool empowers individuals with immediate responses—Feel It, Read It, Own It—to confidently act, speak up, or leave challenging situations. The service is dedicated to fostering emotional safety and preparedness within…

bobu is how Across Rainbows C.I.C. shows up in the world. We make help visible, real, and immediate, so people know they can act when it matters. We give teams the clarity to move fast, individuals the confidence to speak up, and venues the tools to show they care. No waiting. No guessing. People feel safe, supported, and seen, knowing help is right there when it matters.

The core of bobu's offering is the LGBTQ+ Safety Toolkit and the bobuSHIFT Quick Response Guide. This toolkit is designed for moments when someone crosses a line, and your body's autopilot kicks in. bobu empowers you to 'Catch the drop' before freeze, flight, fawn, or fight responses take over. It teaches you to Feel It (notice internal bodily signals like a tight chest or racing heart), Read It (assess external cues like who's crossing a line or who looks uncomfortable), and Own It (choose your action and words, such as 'That is not okay,' 'I am leaving,' or 'Can someone help?').

The program addresses 5 real scenarios faced by LGBTQ+ people, including workplace comments, family gatherings, microaggressions, hostile moments, and being visible in public. It helps users spot warning signs, assess safety, and decide whether to stay or leave before things escalate, providing ready-to-use responses. bobu also facilitates building a safety signal system for discreetly asking for help from allies. This is not theory; it's a 60-minute focused session where participants practice real scenarios, ensuring they are ready when it happens for real. Designed with and for the LGBTQ+ community, bobu believes that practical skills for safety and emotional well-being are non-negotiable.
